Crawler's Ledge on the Kalalau Trail

This is a video of my traversing the area known as Crawler's Ledge on the Kalalau Trail on the island of Kaua'i.

My experience was on a nice, sunny day last August on the section of trail that many get freaked out about. I can't vouch for how scary it might be on a wet and windy day, but on this day it was only mildly heart-pounding. Not near as bad as others had made me think it was - and I do experience vertigo at times. I saw that scene in the movie "A Perfect Getaway" where they were supposedly traversing the Kalalau Trail and made this section look 100 times worse than it really is.

Also, as I have viewed others' videos, I think the angle of the camera makes a difference on your perspective of how bad it is. I had one hand out holding my phone camera towards the ocean side and the other touching the cliff wall. Not a problem anywhere. You'll see on this clip where a tour boat comes by and you can barely hear how they saw me and whooped up to me. I stopped for a second and waved back. Cool to be a momentary cliff-side celebrity.

When it was all done, I thought "That was fun, but doesn't meet all the hype." Don't be afraid of it.

This trail experience was part of my "Journey to Kalalau" as described in the following links:
