Hawaiian Wedding Song / Ke Kali Nau lyrics

This is the moment
I' ve waited for.
I can hear my heart singing.
Soon bells will be ringing.

This is the moment
Of sweet Aloha.
I will love you longer than forever.
Promise me that you will leave me never.

Here and now, dear,
All my love I vow dear.
Promise me that you will leave me never.
I will love you longer than forever.

Now that we are one,
Clouds won't hide the sun.
Blue skies of Hawaii smile
On this, our wedding day.
I do love you
With all my heart.

lyrics by Al Hoffman and Dick Manning

Kaua'i Island of Love

Kauai, island of love
Lovely princess of the islands
Kauai, island of love
Listen, can't you hear her calling

Aloha welcome my love
Her palm trees gently do the hula
While her slaves, the waves
Rush in to kiss her shores

Heaven is another name for
Kauai, island of love

As sung by Elvis Presley in "Blue Hawaii"

Beautiful Kaua'i

There's an island across the sea
Beautiful Kauai, beautiful Kauai
And it's calling, just calling to me
Beautiful Kauai, beautiful Kauai

In the midst of fern grotto
Mother Nature made her home
'Neath the falls of Wailua
Where lovers often roam

So I'll return to my isles across the sea
Beautiful Kauai, beautiful Kauai
Where my true love is waiting for me
Beautiful Kauai, beautiful Kauai

Blue Hawaii lyrics

Night and you
And blue Hawaii
The night is heavenly
And you are heaven to me
Lovely you
And blue Hawaii
With all this loveliness
There should be love

Come with me
While the moon is on the sea,
The night is young
And so are we, so are we
Dreams come true
In blue Hawaii
And mine could all come true
This magic night of nights with you

As sung by Elvis
words & music by Leo Robin, Ralph Rainger

Hele on to Kaua'i

I relate well to the words of this song by Israel Kamaka'wiwo'ole (IZ), and although I didn't grow up on Kaua'i, I do feel it is home. I often long to hele (come) home.

Hele on to Kaua'i
There's a place I recall
Not too big, in fact its kinda small
The people there know they got it all
The simple life for me

Hele on to Kauai
Hanalei by the bay
Wailua river valley is where I used to play
The canyons of Waimea standing all aglow
The magic of the garden isle is calling me back home

When I was young, not too smart
I left my home, looking for a brand new start
To find a place that's better still
now I know, I know I never will

Hele on to Kauai
Hanalei by the bay
Wailua river valley is where I used to play
The canyons of Waimea standing all aglow
The magic of the garden isle is calling me back home

Hele on to Kauai
Hanalei by the bay
Wailua river valley is where I used to play
The canyons of Waimea standing all aglow
The magic of the garden isle is calling me back home
It's calling me back home

Take in a Luau

Should you take in a Luau?

Yes!

Going to Hawaii without attending a luau is like going to Orlando and not visiting a Disney Park, or visiting Salt Lake City and not seeing Temple Square. You should do it at least once. If done well, it offers you a glimpse into the history and culture of Polynesia.

That said, be careful in selecting one - some can be cheesy and too touristy. On Maui, there are two that I'd recommend: The Old Lahaina Luau - focuses mostly on Hawaiian culture, and the Feast at Lele - a more intimate luau with a smattering of all of the polynesian cultures.

My experience with luaus on Oahu is they're too cheesy. Other clubs, concerts, etc. might be the way to go in Waikiki. But, the best polynesian review, bar none, is found at the night show at the Polynesian Cultural Center on Oahu's north shore. Their Ali'i Luau, however, is not as good, since they cram you in like cattle and have cheesy entertainment.

On Kauai, there are a couple of fairly good luaus - one at Smith's Tropical Gardens, and one at the Kaua'i Coconut Beach Resort. I have not been to nor am I familiar with any luaus on the Big Island.
